Sukh Ram Memorial Public School started in the year 2001 at the ancestral home of the Aryas' in village Kalirawan. Today the School is located in a new complex which stands proudly on the main road. It is a co-educational English medium school affiliated with CBSE and the first graduating class has earned their senior secondary certificate in 2013. The school started out as a Hindi Medium school with the thinking that rural kids might have difficulty to pull along in an English Medium School, however, realizing that English Medium is a necessity for the modern education, the medium was changed to English after 3 years.
Spread over 8 and half acres, the school has 48,000 square feet of covered area as a three-storey building. Mr. and Mrs. Arya donated five and a half acres of land from their own agricultural holdings, and bought the remaining three acres.
In addition to a traditional classroom curriculum, the students at Sukh Ram Memorial Public School also benefit from learning about Indian culture and taking part in physical education, yoga, public speaking and many other co curricular activities. A typical school day is of around 6 hours, and the school year is also comprised of more than 225 teaching days.
The Aryas, who dream of making the Sukh Ram Memorial Public School one of the best schools in the region, have thus far spent over $2 million of their own money and provide for the yearly deficit in running expenses to the tune of 20-25 lakhs.
